My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge. Because you have rejected knowledge, I also will reject you from being priest for Me…(Hosea 4:6a NKJV)
For I say, through the grace given to me, to everyone who is among you, not to think of himself more highly than he ought to think, but to think soberly, as God has dealt to each one a measure of faith. (Romans 12:3 NKJV)
The fear of the Lord is to hate evil; Pride and arrogance and the evil way And the perverse mouth I hate. (Proverbs 8:13 NKJV)
Looking up verses on this subject these ones stuck out to me…
This blog is not for the faint at heart or those who are easily offended… Or maybe it is.
Most evangelical churches in our society run with a superior motive. Often puffed up and prideful like they are the only ones doing a good work. They often are controlling, manipulative, judgmental and full of gossip and lies…
From previous experiences in these types of gatherings I have attended and served I have seen an ugly and unhealthy pattern. Volunteers become driven by guilt and fear because they are expected to offer their time without authentic affirmation, without a “good job you are such a blessing… Etc”
Now I’m not saying that in the sense of entitlement but as a sense of appreciation. Do you really value the time and effort of the lives that help build your gatherings?
And plainly how are you build the house of the Lord. The word seems very clear when it says:
Unless the Lord builds the house, They labor in vain who build it; Unless the Lord guards the city, The watchman stays awake in vain. (Psalm 127:1 NKJV)
Ignorance in many cases concerning the church invokes lack of purpose, vision, and zeal for His house for the gathering of believers.
Expectancy in the form of performance or completing a task, etc often puts works before grace when in fact we are to be driven by grace to fulfill the works.
A church gathering primarily built on works lacks knowledge of the grace of God and think they can obtain God’s favor mostly on works alone…
The bible warns us in this day and age:
But know this, that in the last days perilous times will come: For men will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, unloving, unforgiving, slanderers, without self-control, brutal, despisers of good, traitors, headstrong, haughty, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God, having a form of godliness but denying its power. And from such people turn away! For of this sort are those who creep into households and make captives of gullible women loaded down with sins, led away by various lusts, always learning and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth. (2 Timothy 3:1-7 NKJV)
I’ve said this in the past few months…
“I want to be used for His glory not used for His glory..” meaning I want to be empowered by grace to accomplish His work, but I don’t want to be used up and thrown out like a whore.
The problem with the church is most pastors ad ministers are pimps… Yeah I said it…
They use up people because of talent and ability and then when they can’t perform anymore because of burnout or whatever reason they are thrown out like yesterday’s trash. And told “God expects you to do better…”
Sounds like a cult to me…
The only thing God expects you to do is love Him and have relationship with Him not killing yourself working your life away and drifting further away from Him.
Wake up church! See beyond the legalistic control we call church and be the church God sees…
It’s not a “I have to” motive its a “I want to”motive…
When you don’t perform to the level your expected and you need to rest you are pretty much cast out…
This has happened to me many times.
Puffed up proud boastful people who think they are the only ones with all the answers and never really willing to listen to any other opinion or advice. You’ll find it often in ministers who have ministered for many years.
I’m not jabbing at pastors but I will call it what it is and I will warn my friends who are starting to move In that calling, not to focus on the numbers of your congregation or the work that’s has to be done but be motivated by God’s grace and the work will follow.
The harvest is here…
You will reap what you sow…
If you sow love and mercy and grace you will receive a harvest of it.
If you focus solely on the works you missed the blessing of the harvest and reap misery.
Be reminded of Cain and Abel… Which was the better offering?
All In love and truth and grace
What a awesome calling to usher people in the presence of God. To worship through the gift of music.
Over the past 7 years I have attended and served the Lord at Calvary Chapel Worship Center and what a joy to see many people ministered to and to see people worshiping with all their heart.
I know God is doing great things in your lives
I (along with chyna) would like to formally announce that this will be our last Sunday ministering under CCWC and Sunday will also be my last day on staff as well.
We are just taking a much needed time of refreshing in the Lord and than chyna and myself will be helping many churches in the bay area build their worship teams… We also have been attending another local church and we feel that has really become our home church.
We do intend on visiting ccwc and ministering as often as we can to the body of Christ. This is not a time to follow it is a time to lead. So press on in the Lord. :) we love you so much.
See you Sunday
We all know that saying “if life throws you lemons make lemonade.”
However true, going through some difficult situations can leave a sour bitter taste and ones faith tested to the max.
We ask questions like “God why?”
We’re told God has a perfect plan for us (jer 29:11) and that all things work together for the good of those who love Him and are called according to His purpose. (rom 8:28)
So when something goes wrong or not like we expect it to go we doubt God. His faithfulness, grace, love…
We are often tempted to walk away from the Lord.
We doubt His plan, His love, and His will…
But the truth has always been and always will be. God loves us, He has plan for us and His ways are higher than ours.
"For my thoughts are not your thoughts,
neither are your ways my ways,”
declares the Lord. “As the heavens are higher than the earth,
so are my ways higher than your ways
and my thoughts than your thoughts. As the rain and the snow
come down from heaven,
and do not return to it
without watering the earth
and making it bud and flourish,
so that it yields seed for the sower and bread for the eater, so is my word that goes out from my mouth:
It will not return to me empty,
but will accomplish what I desire
and achieve the purpose for which I sent it. (Isaiah 55:8-11 NIV)
God’s word, His will and His calling over our lives never changes… We change as life changes us in this fallen world nothing ever turns out the way we would expect but for God, His word over our lives changes us to conform to His will.
As Jesus prayed…
Your kingdom come,
Your will be done,
on earth as it is in heaven. (Matthew 6:10 NIV)
Going a little farther, he fell with his face to the ground and prayed, “My Father, if it is possible, may this cup be taken from me. Yet not as I will, but as you will.” (Matthew 26:39 NIV)
Regardless of the circumstances around you seek to do the will of the Father and the purpose in the trail will become more clear and in your weakness be made strong in the Lord.
Love ya, Chris
P.s. I’m also writing about myself in this blog as well. What a learning experience I have had over the past years… I know it was for my good.
Now back to the basics :)
